The traditional Viennese cuisine has many different delicacies to offer, think about the Schweinsbraten or Wiener Schnitzel, good and solid. Or something sweet, like the Kaiserschmarren or Apfelstrudel.
But you may also find so many tasty restaurants with international cuisine, from countries all over the world.
Particularly Asian food is very popular in Austria. An insider’s tip is Tofu und Chili, on Linke Wienzeile, next to the Naschmarkt. Although the furniture inside the eatery is more functional than generous, the food is very delicious and they serve big portions. Therefore the tasteful food levels the small location. Mainly during midday it’s hard to find a free seat, which speaks definitely in the food’s favour.
Tofu und Chili offers sophisticated wok meals with meat, tofu or seafood and with rice and vegetables. Furthermore the noodles are self-made. Also sweet eaters won’t miss desserts like baked bananas or Zongzi.
Another Asian restaurant is Bamboo, which offers its manifold cuisine for a sensational price. There are even three Bamboos located in Vienna.
Their concept is an all-you-can-eat buffet with really a huge range of fresh ingredients, vegetables, meat and fish. You can create your own meal and the cook prepares it in front of you. I can recommend the Happy Hour from 3pm until 5pm, where you pay only 6,90 € for the buffet. But it gets more expensive in the evening and on weekends. Although that, Bamboo is definitely a visit worth.
If you prefer more the cuisine from Vietnam, then you’ll have to visit SAPA. It caters for an enjoyable atmosphere and delicious Vietnamese food in the Lindengasse, near the Mariahilferstrasse.
Beside the fresh prepared food, SAPA persuades with a very comfortable and stylish atmosphere. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy your meal outside or you take a seat on the pillows on the ground.
Who likes Asian food apart from Chinese or Japanese meals, SAPA is the right choice for sure.
Top Indian restaurants, where taste, service and furniture are matched, are quite hard to find in Vienna. But Nam Nam, an Indian restaurant in the Webgasse, offers a simple eatery with an enjoyable atmosphere. The menu includes beside the delicious main dishes also soups, salads and desserts. During midday they offer a special menu.
Due to its new Indian cuisine and its comfortable eatery, I can definitely recommend Nam Nam.
Let’s move up to the North. If you like Scandinavian food, visit SKAEN - ‘köstlich skandinavisch’. You will go there on a culinary trip through Scandinavia. With their slogan ‘Moving Cultures” SKAEN brings the northern art of living to Austria. You can try Scandinavian specialities, like the original Smørrebrød or Danish chocolate, salmon or fish. In the Restaurant is also a shop included.
Enjoy your meal! :)
